Leavers' Assembly

The sun was shining on our Y13 students today, their last day of gate duty and a formal celebration of their time at Victoria College at the Leavers' Assembly.

Reflecting on his time at College, Head Boy, Eden, commented, ‘from the teachers to the students, there is a huge sense of community. The ethos of trying new things, being encouraged to challenge ourselves, regardless of ability, while fostering that ‘Culture of Kindness’ is what I feel sets Victoria College apart.’

Eden’s advice to his friends was to ‘dream big, and whilst this may feel like the end of an era, it is actually just the beginning of something even bigger……we are Old Victorians now and we will forever be tied by this special connection.’

It was a very special assembly with speeches from Headteacher, Dr Hughes and Head of Sixth Form, Mr Falle thanking the students for their contributions, wishing them well and encouraging them to stay in touch.

The Head Boy’s Greatest Student Contribution over the last year was awarded to Nick for his small selfless actions and striving to make the world around him that little bit brighter.

The Greatest Teacher Contribution over the last year was awarded to Director of Music, Mr Murton for running countless workshops and rehearsals in his own time, bringing the students together outside of lessons and giving them unique opportunities to have fun and do something positive.

Thank you to Old Victorian, Rufus Scholefield for his inspirational talk about his rise to fame rowing for Team GB, the gruelling challenges he set himself including the 3000 miles Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and the Marathon des Sables and the lessons he learned along the way - all in a bid to raise £100,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

What a lovely and very memorable afternoon.
