7 local leaders inspire Victoria College students in new leadership programme
The programme is aimed at developing student understanding of what leadership looks like, and will run over 6 weeks, with a series of videos from external speakers focusing on our core values and the Rights Respecting values.
The 7 contributors come from a range of backgrounds including; finance, law, media and sport, to name a few, but all have been highly successful leaders within their industries locally.

- Melissa Nobrega, CEO, Caring Cooks
Senior Teacher – Teaching and Learning, Mrs Parm Plummer, who is leading this programme from inside the school says, “The project came about as a collaboration between Alex and myself, as a result of our common interest in inclusion and diversity and Alex's experience in delivering a similar programme at JCG focused on Women in Leadership. Through discussion, the original idea evolved into the leadership programme, and we are so pleased that Oben Law & Regulatory were able to support Victoria College, not only in terms of Alex's time, but also in sponsoring the prizes for the competition. We hope all boys involved will take part.
In the current climate, there is clearly a need to reflect the rich diversity in our society and how the core values that underpin our school are common to all. I want to thank all our contributors for their time and authentic responses and for sharing their vulnerabilities with us. The videos are a powerful reminder of not only what leadership looks like, but also the importance of relationships, the value of experience and the wisdom within our community.”
Alongside these assemblies, students will be asked to reflect on what they have learnt in each session and given questions to discuss. The College will also be running competition that is open to all participating students with prizes sponsored by Oben Law & Regulatory.
Students will be asked to submit written entries on ‘What does leadership look like’ and ‘Leadership means one strong person at the top’. Prizes include £100 cash and a day's leadership shadowing at Oben Law and Regulatory and additional cash prizes of £50 and £10.
