All Years, Annual Parent Survey - Deadline, 26 May
We are constantly trying to improve the education that we offer students at Victoria College and are now at the stage in the school year where we need you to tell us how well you think we are doing and how we can improve the things that are important to you. Please spare 10 minutes to complete a questionnaire by using this link and logging on using the password provided below.
The case-sensitive password is: VCJ99802Pa
By completing the questionnaire, you will be telling us how you think we should be spending our time and resources, to make our College the best that it can be for your son. Each completed questionnaire is vital in finding out what parents think. Your answers will be treated in the strictest confidence and will make a difference to how we run the school and plan for the future.
Thank you in advance for your help

All Years, King Charles III's Coronation
The College is looking resplendent with flags and bunting in preparation for the King's Coronation on Saturday. All this week, the students have been enjoying a number of different in-lesson activities and there's lots more to come including cake and live music in the Quad and a special Bistro Coronation lunch. Catch up with news as it happens on our social media channels!
Well done to the Year 7s who, very patiently, formed a crown on College lawn to be photgraphed from above. What a lovely way to mark the occasion and celebrate our unique links to the British Monarchy since the College's foundation in 1852. More on the history of the college and our Visitor, The British Monarch, can be found via the link below:

All Years, A New Session from Our School Counsellor
Victoria College's School Counsellor is inviting students to take part in 5 small group sessions playing a therapeutic board game called "Feeling Good".
The 'Feeling Good' game encourages players to feel good about themselves by recognising, understanding, and expressing their emotions. The game requires players to communicate and collaborate with each other. This communication can help break down barriers and create a safe space for students to express themselves. It also helps students to build trust and work together towards a common goal.
Please fill in the form below to apply for a space. Spaces are limited, and so will be offered on a first come, first served basis only.

All Years, Important Safeguarding Information, Please Read
Please be aware of the latest online safety messages that all parents need to be aware of.
Omegle – an anonymous web platform that provides video chat by randomly matching users between all countries based on shared interests. This can include photo and video content. Needless to say, the risks inherent in using this app are huge. Indeed, the first risk identified by Omegle themselves is “One of the main risks of anonymous chatting is the lack of accountability. Without knowing who you’re talking to, it’s difficult to hold someone accountable for their actions or words. This can lead to inappropriate or even harmful behaviour.” The age rating is 18. Simply, your son should not be using this website. Please check his phone to make sure he is not putting himself, or others, in harm’s way
“jsyscraps” SnapChat group – We have been made aware of an Island wide SnapChat group called “jsyscraps” where children are sharing videos of deliberately started fights and filming them. No VCJ boys have been identified in any videos, but many students and parents will no doubt be aware of the group's existence. Please could we ask that you check that your son is not a member of this group, and discuss with him the obvious reasons why this group, or similar, is not appropriate. This is also a good time to remind the College community that the age limit on SnapChat is 13+, and so boys who are aged 11 and 12 should not have access to it.
You will know that at Victoria College we have a very clear and consistent policy on the use of mobile devices during the school day: they must be turned off between 8.25am-3.25pm. Please support this approach by not messaging your son during the day, and if he messages you during the day, do not reply, and later, tell him not to. All messages should be sent through the Main Office. As well as the obvious health and social benefits, it is also to safeguard your son’s welfare, as well as his peers’.
We are very grateful to all members of the College community who have been in touch to alert us to the above issues. If you have any further questions or comments, please contact Designated Safeguarding Lead, Anthony Griffin (a.griffin@vcj.sch.je) or Deputy DSL, Patrick Crossley (p.crossley@vcj.sch.je).

All Years, Timetable Change - Wednesday 10 May
Due to the number of Mondays that have been affected by INSET and Public Holidays, we have decided to replace the usual Wednesday Timetable on Wednesday May 10 with our Monday lesson Timetable. This will mitigate the loss of particular subjects missing Monday lessons in the run-up to the internal exams, particularly in Y7-9 where some subjects only see their classes once per week. Co-curricular activities will also run as per Mondays, unless advised otherwise.
